Being bilingual increases cognition and promotes multicultural awareness. Our Spanish teacher teaches Spanish by telling traditional stories, playing games and singing songs. Once a week Spanish circle help children learn essential Spanish, including: greetings, colors, food, clothes, numbers, manners, animals, family, the alphabet, key action verbs, commands, descriptive adjectives and much more.
Music provides a rich sensory environment in any classroom. Musical experiences are an important way to help create neural connections. And while listening to music is certainly key to creating them, it's when kids actively participate in music that they make the strongest connections. Columbia Crest Montessori offer music circle once a week in every classroom, our music teacher brings her love and passion for music in the classroom to share with children. She brings music instruments from different country, songs in different language and shares stories about different music composer.
Our once a week science program is all about exploring fabulous five senses! Put taste buds to the test, making "scents" of mysterious odors, open eyes to illusions, and more! Science activities include themes like incredible insects, tooth sleuth, experiments with sound waves, discovering colors etc.
